REO Speedwagon

The concert was so much fun. They, of course, sang the hits (”Take It On The Run”, “Can’t Fight This Feeling”, “Keep on Loving You”, and, my very favourite, “Roll With the Changes”). They also plugged their upcoming album (so I’ll do the same), “Everyone Loves a Happy Ending”. It sounds great - you can hear some clips here - I plan on picking it up when it’s released.

What did strike me was how much people have aged in the last twenty years. So very much grey hair and too many bald spots to count. And that was just the band (har har). The crowd was quite solidly middle aged. My husband and I spent the time before the show reassuring each other that surely neither of us looked that old. We finally agreed that while time had touched everyone else in the theatre, and outright slugged some of them, it had left us looking just as we did twenty years ago. Sure, some may call it delusional on our part…but I’m comfortable with that (even if my Gloria Vanderbilt jeans aren’t quite as comfortable as I remember….).

One big change for concerts in the new millenium - now that no one smokes and so have no lighters handy for the ballads…..cell phones. Hold them up and let the display shine. Kids these days. What will they think of next.
